A List of Things to Have At Your Desk In Your Office

In case you get bored, or sad, or stressed – you need to make sure you’re ready to handle it!

1.  A picture that makes you laugh or smile – great for those bad days

2.  A sudoku puzzle book – great for those slow days or when you just need a short break

3.  A stressball – for stress or to kill a bit of boredom

4.  A pen and paper to doodle – for boredom, to take a bit of a break, or to get out some frustration

5.  One of those things with the inky blots in it, and you turn it upside down and the blots fall through steps or mazes to the bottom – you can zone out and watch it

6.  A running grocery list – when you’re stressed or bored, thinking about food items you need or would like to buy is a great way to clear your mind

7.  Silly putty – it’s a great boredom killer and it can take your mind off work for a few minutes

8.   A plant – pick a kind you like.  It makes fresh air for you, can give your desk a splash of color, and can be interesting to look at

9.  A fish – if you’re allowed.  Watching your fish swim around in its bowl is a great stress reliever.  But remember you have to take care of it

10.  A book that you’ve already read but totally love – so you can pick it up and read a little bit when you need to take a mental break from your job
